OVERVIEW
NorthWinds Biodiesel is focused on the development of destination-based biodiesel facilities.
NorthWinds believes biodiesel will begin to have a profound affect on emissions and foreign oil dependency in the United States and therefore has invested its own early stage development capital in several attractive projects in the Northeastern United States. We believe plants located in the primary distillate demand regions, versus in the feedstock supply regions, will be extremely viable and well positioned to meet growing vehicular, heating oil and power generation demand for renewable fuels in the Northeast. Our basic development objective is to partner with other parties that bring strong and viable expertise in feedstock supply and logistics, proven and cost effective process technology, engineering & design skills, sales and marketing expertise and local knowledge and relationships with key constituents in a particular locality. NorthWinds believes the key to developing successful destination-based biodiesel production facilities rests on eight key factors:
- Good sites with main line rail access
- Good local market demand with viable truck access
- Strong local support
- Exceptional feedstock procurement and logistics capabilities
- Dedicated sales & marketing effort
- Unwavering commitment to high quality product
- Extremely strong focus on being the lowest cost producer
- Exceptionally strong engineering, design and permitting capabilities through local firms
NorthWind Biodiesel’s most advanced projects are Berkshire Biodiesel, a 50 million gallon per year facility located in Pittsfield, MA and CT Biodiesel, a 50 million gallon per year facility located in Suffield, CT.
